The year is 1969. On July 20th Astronaut Neil Armstrong just became the first human to set foot on the Moon and uttered the immortal words “That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.” Over 400 thousand music fans came together on a farm in New York State to participate in what will become the most famous music festival in modern times. Woodstock reflected the signs of the times, with peace symbols, long hair and headbands showing the feelings of anti establishment felt by young people. And everyone listened to a quartet of young men from Liverpool known as The Beatles. Here in Oakville, Ontario, gasoline cost around $.42 cents a gallon (Canadian use of the metric system was just around the corner).
